This morning, while I was showering, I heard a noise in the bathroom. I looked out the shower door, and my awesome new organizational beanbag was sitting there giggling at me.
The stuffed animals? Strewn across her bedroom floor.

Every now and then we see Neko run off in the yard. Lately, when she reappears, she’s holding a handful of flowers. “These are for you, Mom!” she will say proudly. I love that they’re all weeds that normally we’d pull out or mow over, but when she puts them all together, they really are beautiful.
We clearly cannot stay on vacation, because it has been filled with so many cute moments that we might start dancing on rainbows with unicorns and puppies if all continues.
When we put Neko to bed at night, we always rub her back, tummy, and forehead. Tonight, after we read a story, she decided she needed to help Ellery go to bed by giving her the same routine. And I’ll be darned if they weren’t both sound asleep ten minutes later.
Shep found this cardboard wrapping paper tube under the table, and once Neko had conned him out of it, she constructed her very own marble run (it goes down the chute, across the drum and into the back of the Mack truck).
If she learns how to cook and do her own laundry, we will be virtually useless to her. Although, her legs are not long enough to reach the gas pedal…yet.
Chris stayed late tonight to fly a kite with the kids. Then Renita and Diane rolled in and everyone stayed for dinner, which we ate on the patio in the unusually cool June weather.
Over dinner we wished farewell to Renita’s hip, which is scheduled to be replaced on Thursday.
Neko has really been into wrapping gifts. (I swear, the kid seems to have an infinite supply of blue tape.) She wrapped this present for Tom, but her latest addition is to make sure it’s properly labeled.
We must thank Kate N. and her recommendation for the most annoying yet educational DVDs ever, The Letter Factory and the follow-up, The Talking Words Factory, for this huge leap in reading knowledge. Boy, do the kids love that DVD. Even Shep is learning his letters.

Good lord, I have no idea. What does he do?

“I want to go into outer space so I can figure out what’s in it.”
It’s official. She’s starting to out-think us.
