    …when she calls/emails/texts me.

It is my reminder, at the eleventh hour, to fill out my basketball bracket.

I'm almost hesitant to get organized do it in advance, as it’s kind of one of my March Madness traditions now. With the emphasis on the “madness” part.

I adore these boots. I'm so glad they fit someone again. Even if that someone wearing them skipped her nap and is a little bit grouchy.

It's been so nice lately that the kids are just begging to go outdoors.

Today I let Shep spend part of his quiet time outside. I really needed to get some work done, so I asked him to stay on the patio where I could keep an eye on him.

After about 20 minutes he came bursting inside yelling, "Mom! I've made something! DOG POOP!"

And then for ten minutes I listened to him explain that when you combine sand, dirt, and water, you can, in fact, make the most amazing version of dog poop, you know, ever.

And that is how we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in these here parts.

Always a treat. The kids adore him and they run him ragged.

Got his newborn shoot in just under the wire on his two week birthday. After that, these little ones start uncurling and look like, well, babies.

    Delicious.

More here if you need a bigger snack.

  • Follow up

We had our follow-up appointment for Shep’s tics today. (Six months later.) We went to the new campus of our local children’s hospital, and, omigosh, for any of you that are local and might find yourself in need of a children’s hospital—IT IS BEAUTIFUL. Seriously, I’ve considered going back on a random Thursday because I think we could kill a few hours there happily.

The whole building is bright and full of windows. Waiting areas are filled with televisions and murals with blinking lights, carts with loads of books, tiles on the floor that squish colors when you walk on them. And in the lobby? Starbucks!

    So well done.

Okay, back to our appointment. We had hardly any wait time anywhere. The staff was incredibly kind. We loved the doctor. He was friendly and fabulous with Shep. We talked about where we are and where we’re headed. Because of the new electronic system, he was able to pull up Shep’s CAT scan and said everything looked clear.

Bottom line? We’ll just wait and see. Shep’s tic is nowhere near as bad as it was that first weekend it began. We only see it every now and then, mostly when he’s tired or stressed. He developed a clicking in his throat for about a week about a month ago. But other than that, he seems very normal.

They could go away, but I suspect he’ll have tics on and off his whole life, but I doubt any of them will ever be bad enough to merit medication.

But in the meantime, I feel like we’re in excellent hands. We’ve been given the key to the secret back door, an email address and nurse’s phone number, so we can get an appointment quickly if we ever feel we need one. But at this point we don't even have a follow-up appointment. The doctor told us to just get to go back to living our normal life. Which sounds pretty good.

Shep couldn't figure out what it said inside the little dots on his Lego board. I thought it said Lego and he wasn't convinced. He was mumbling about something, and finally I figured out he was asking me to scan it in so we could have a better look.

Impressed with his thinking, I figured the camera would be quicker (because, of course, we were on the way out the door). I was able to zoom in on my quick shot, and we we delighted to discover it, infact, said Duplo. Hooray for technology!

I'm really done with the cold weather. We had that little taste of spring last week, and now it's back to being cold. Not winter cold, but just that in-between, oops, I left the house in a hoodie and now I'm freezing my butt off cold.

    Ready. For. Spring.
